Our Story

The Beginning

The Beginnig

As a representative at a financial services firm, Matt Jantzen saw a lack of sound advice in the area of health insurance and Medicare coverage. His clients and the clients of his colleagues were having trouble getting the guidance they needed in this specific area. He accepted the challenge and began studying and educating himself so that he could help provide this advice for his firm and more importantly the individuals and families that needed the help.

The Founding

The Founding

After several years of advising clients on a pro-bono basis, Matt realized that advising individuals and families specifically on health insurance and Medicare coverage was his calling. He founded Alliance Health Insurance Agency in 2009. Alliance Health Insurance Agency began as a traditional health and Medicare insurance agency providing advice and selling health and Medicare insurance products to individuals and small groups.

Industry Changes

Industry Changes

The landscape of Health Insurance and Medicare has changed significantly over the years, primarily with the enactment of ACA (Obamacare) in 2014. As the governments role in health coverage has increased, the needs of individuals shifted significantly from that of an insurance need, to one of a more strategic approach to a healthcare plan.
The needs of the individual health insurance and Medicare market have become much more than an insurance product purchase. It is now about financial risk management both in medical and premium cost. It's become about incorporating state and Federal programs with you health coverage AND care (not just for the "low income" anymore). It's also become a financial and tax planning issue both during the enrollment process and while filing tax returns. For Medicare recipients, a simple medicare supplement or advantage plan is just a fraction of the planning that needs to be done. Most of the work that needs to be done, and that should be done results in little to no commission. These circumstance bring about a natural conflict of interest that is unique to the individual health insurance and Medicare markets.
With many solutions to an individuals needs being in the realm of a "non-commissionable product", the traditional Individual health and Medicare agent has a tough choice to make... Make recommendations, assist, and service clients that may not earn them any commission, or focus on the products that pay them the most money. Unfortunately, even the most ethical of agents (including myself) would struggle with this choice.

The New Model

The New Model

It's for these reasons that we feel THE ONLY WAY THAT AN INDIVIDUAL, FAMILY, OR TRANSITIONING EMPLOYEE CAN GET THE THE BEST HEALTH COVERAGE ADVICE FOR THEIR SPECIFIC SITUATION IS FROM A "NON-COMMISSION BASED" HEALTH COVERAGE CONSULTANT OR ADVISOR. It liberates the consultant to become a true advocate for the individual.
In May of 2016, Alliance Health Insurance Agency incorporated the fee based model and became ALLIANCE INSURANCE AND CONSULTING. We began to charge a fee for our service. Unsure of how the market would react to this, we felt it was the best way to enable us to give the best, most comprehensive advice and guidance along with the implementation and service that our clients needed. As it turned out, the market loves it, and still does to this day!
